Splurge vs Steal – Fall Staples Edition
In the fall season, there are a few pieces that I consider must-haves. These are pieces that can be mixed and matched into many outfits that are both stylish and weather-appropriate. In this SvS post, I have scoured the Internet for the best staple pieces (for any budget) that you shouldn’t live without this season.
I used to be on team no-faux, but I’ve slowly found myself loving these vests. First, they’re SUPER warm. Secondly, they are perfect for layering. This vest on the left from Nordstrom is a SPLURGE, but super gorgeous. I found this alternative on the right for a STEAL at TJ Maxx.
I adore leather detailing in any form I can get it. I think it gives the right amount of edge to otherwise feminine looks. Leather leggings can be the perfect base for a girly top and dainty jewelry. This pair on the left from Michael Kors require a SPLURGE. I found this alternative pair on the right for a STEAL at Topshop (I actually own these and love them).
What screams fall more than cozying up in a warm flannel top? Answer: nothing. This Equipment top on the left would require you to SPLURGE, but it may be the most perfect plaid top I’ve ever seen. The more budget-conscious babe can find this dupe at Old Navy for a STEAL.
I live in boots in the fall. I tuck in my skinny jeans and I’m out the door. I have tall boots in brown, black, cognac, gray, and beige. There’s something to be said about this chocolate brown color. It instantly makes any fall outfit look completely polished. These Tory Burch boots on the left are beautiful but require a SPLURGE. I found this pair on DSW for a STEAL that will still achieve that aspirational fall look.
Any fashion girl would recognize the scarf on the right. Ah, yes. The infamous Zara blanket scarf. I have this scarf in last years color and it is probably my favorite scarf ever. For those of you looking for a more classic option, this Burberry beauty on the left is a SPLURGE. Lucky for us, though, the Zara scarf is back this year and it can be found for a STEAL.
