25+ Business Casual Outfit Ideas

I recently had a reader reach out to me and say that she was just going back to work after some time away and needed some outfit inspiration. While I feel like I’m constantly sharing work looks here and on my Instagram, I realize it had been a while since I shared a compilation of looks all in one place that I love for when business attire is needed. I will say that, for my job/industry, business casual means jeans are okay, but I stick to mostly dark washed, non-distressed pairs to still keep the looks polished. If jeans are not okay, just trade in a pair of dark slacks and you’re good to go! So, here are ten types of looks I love that are perfect for the office.

PENCIL/MIDI SKIRT – I love me a good, smart skirt, whether it’s printed, lace, or leather, I love them all. I think it gives such feminine shape while remaining professional.

PROFESSIONAL DRESS IN A BOLD COLOR – I think dresses that have a classic silhouette but are in a bold color/pattern demand attention in the office.

ANIMAL PRINT UP TOP – I am not afraid to bring animal print to work. However, as a rule of thumb, when I do, I keep the rest of the look super, super simple. Black bottoms and a classic bag are all you need to elevate the look just enough for a working environment.

PRINTED PANTS – whether it’s spring or winter, I think a printed pair of dress slacks are the perfect piece to add some fun into your workwear. I’ve had these for YEARS and always find a way to make them work for the workplace

SMART LAYERS – Y’all know I LOVE blazers. Like, love. But I also love changing it up and throwing a top on under a dress.

KEEP IT SOLIDLY SIMPLE – Sometimes less is more. Here are some basic but classic options that don’t involve any prints.

I hope this was helpful! Let me know what other kinds of workwear inspiration you’d like to see.
