Thread Cincinnati x GILD Collective

The ladies of Thread Cincinnati and I were so honored to have a party thrown for us by the incredible women of GILD Collective a few weeks ago. What's GILD you ask? Well, it's kind of like the Stella & Dot of DIY Crafting. Basically, you pick a craft out of their selection (think succulent planters and morse code necklaces), gather some friends, and have a blast getting together and getting your craft on. It's a really great way to do something different, and no craft costs over $50 (they start at just $29)! The GILD ladies were so kind and threw a soiree for us on an amazing rooftop downtown Cincinnati, complete with charcuterie, wine, and killer views. We had the best time creating our own statement earrings! You can actually see what I wore to the event in  this post AND a little peek of the earrings we made in this post. Below I'm going to outline how a GILD party works:

When a hostess wants to have a craft party, you can inquire using this form. Or, if you know an instructor personally, you can tell the instructor that you want to book a party. Once you choose those things, you fill out this form or tell the instructor (if you have been coordinating with one that you know). GILD creates a unique link just for your party that you send to your friends, who purchase the kits in advance. The best part is there is NO pressure to buy at the event itself, since you already purchased beforehand! Five days before the party, GILD will ship the kits directly to the hostess's house, so that all is there and ready to go at party time!
There are three types of parties:
  • Hostess Led: Hostess-led parties have step-by-step photo/text instructions. In addition, GILD will send each hostess a video that shows a closeup/aerial view of how to complete the craft. Then, hostess-led parties either watch the video during the event or refer back to it several times. You also have the option to call in if you have any questions or concerns that aren't answered in the video! These kind of parties are perfect if you are looking for flexibility and a more laid-back environment.
  • Instructor Led: These parties are led by an instructor, who will come to your home (or wherever you have the event!) and walk you through the craft. This is great if you're not so crafty, so you have a human being there to ask questions!
  • **New!!! Local Artisan Parties**: This is another version of “Instructor-led Parties”, but offers different, more expert-level crafts, taught by local artisans. They have a metal stamper (think those amazing bar necklaces), another jewelry designer, and a personalized wooden sign-maker/letterer. These parties will work the same as the normal parties, only the dates will be somewhat more limited as they are only taught by one particular instructor rather than our whole arsenal of instructors. These are great for the master crafters, those looking for a little more skillful crafts, or those looking to meet local artisans!
Now, here's the fun part, if you mention my blog or Thread, each guest can get 20% off their kits! Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have absolutely any questions about the process.
