My Closet Favorites

If you didn’t know, I always “label” my posts with descriptors on what I’ll be discussing in it. The tags range from “travel”, to “home decor”, to “chambray”, and so many more. They’re located at the bottom of the post, so if you click on any label, it’ll bring up all the posts under that topic! Pretty cool, huh!? Recently I went through my tags to see which ones rose to the top in terms of number of appearances. I was pretty surprised to find there were some clear front-runners! Today I’m going to take you through these “top labels” and share the items that I wear the most. I thought that’d be fun because it’d be a good guide for what pieces you must have in your wardrobe and the different ways I styled them!

I’m going to share some favorites and also link a few relevant posts, but if you want to see more, there are always the tags! What was most interesting to me was how many posts incorporated these same pieces. For instance, the same look appeared in vest and distressed denim (and technically stripes, too)! I think it really shows how versatile these pieces are and how many looks you can create just by having these few items in your closet! What pieces do you get the most wear out of?

vest- Whether it be a longline vest, an excursion vest, or a denim vest, I am all about them! They add an extra layer of warmth but also an extra element of interest to any outfit. The most basic of outfits can be elevated by throwing on a vest. See my three favorite posts here, here, and here. And don’t forget about the fur vest!

stripes – The thing I love most about stripes is that they’re the ultimate versatile print. They can be dressed up, dressed down, or anywhere in between. Every clothing article every made comes in a striped version and it really allows you to stretch your wardrobe. I print-mix with stripes the most and low how much wear I get out of my striped pieces. It’s a year-round go-to and I can’t get enough. See three of my favorite looks here, here, and here.

distressed denim/boyfriend jeans – This may have been the most labeled piece I have. If you follow me on instagram, you see I wear ripped jeans practically every week, if not more. I have ripped jeans in almost every color and can always find a way to incorporate them into my looks. It’s impossible to narrow down my favorite looks involving distressed denim, but this, this, and this are a good start!

pumps/heels – I know this one is super broad/vague but I just had to mention it. Finding the perfect heel feels like a lifelong task that will never get accomplished. I’ve had more than my fair share of bad eggs over the years, so when I find a pair I love, I want to shout it from the rooftops! Whether it be a more fun sandal or a classic pump, a good pair of heels can make you feel like a million bucks. See some of my favorites here, here, and here.

plaid – To me, plaid is like stripes. It’s a print that can be worn really any way you want to. I’ve worn it to work. I’ve worn it out. I’ve pretty much wore it everywhere! It can be layered under a solid piece for a more subdued effect, or it can be the sole focus of your look. I’ve really grown to love plaid and all it’s possibilities. See how I’ve mixed it up here, here, and here.

floral – I rarely feel more pretty and feminine than I do when I’m wearing floral. There is just something so ladylike about this print and I often find myself reaching for it for date night or another fancy occasion. See some pretty floral ensembles from the past here, here, and here.

otk boots – Over-the-knee boots were something I had to work my way into. I always though women looked so strong and sexy in them and I wasn’t sure I could pull it off. Do you have any pieces you just don’t feel “cool” enough to wear? Yeah, these used to be that for me. But, once I sucked it up and tried a pair, I was hooked! I’m only 5’3, so I thought they may swallow my already short legs, but in fact I think they give me the illusion of height! See some favorite looks here, here, and here.

leather – Disclaimer: when I say leather, I obviously mean faux leather. But, I truly think leather accessories/pieces can make a simple outfit look so super chic. The texture mixes so well with others and always looks extremely polished. Whether it be a bag, jacket, or leggings, a leather piece is my go-to to elevate my everyday looks.
